Welcome to our online form area, where you can easily access and complete forms to be used in student advisement and the petitioning process. The use of these online forms will require you to carefully read the instructions provided both on the form itself, and on these pages. Please note:

  • Forms must be printed, copied and submitted to the appropriate office. Forms sent via email will not be accepted.

Late Add Petition - Current Semester
Use this form to request a waiver of the add deadline for a course. Current semester late adds are submitted to your instructor. Please review the petition for complete instructions.

Overload Request Form
NOTE: Form will be avaliable starting the
first day of classes.

Use this form to request additional credits beyond the semester 18 credit-hour limit.

Note:  Overload requests are not accepted nor approved for advance registration or for summer or winter sessions.

Overload petition processing begins the first Friday of each fall and spring semester.  Petitions are reviewed in the order in which they are received and students are notified of the disposition of their request by email.  Petitions are handled promptly, but because of large numbers of requests, some students may not receive a response until late in the add period.


HARPUR COLLEGE PETITION PROCESS

PETITION DROP OFF
Students drop off petition forms in the Harpur Advising Office, Academic Building B, Room 18 (AB-G18)  They submit two copies of each petition. Petitions should present relevant information and documentation.  The instructor’s signature is required on most forms.  Additional sheets if needed can be stapled to the top copy and personal information can be submitted in a sealed envelope; petition information should be complete as requests normally will be reviewed only once.  Supporting documentation will be returned to students.  
Exceptions—
1) Professional school students taking Harpur courses petition through their school.
2)  Late adds for courses taken in a current semester are acted on by the instructor only.

PETITION PICK UP
When submitted each petition is date-stamped.  Normally, transfer credit petitions will be ready for pick up in the Harpur Advising Office, Academic Building B, Room 18 (AB-G18), five days after they are dropped off.  The outcomes of petitions for Late Adds – Past Semesters, Late Course Withdrawals, and General Academic Petitions are emailed directly to the student, normally within 5 business days of when they are dropped off.

 
Late Add Petition - Past Semesters
Use this form to add a course completed in a previous semester.

Late Course Withdraw
Use this form after the withdraw deadline but before the end of the semester to request consideration for a late course withdraw.

General Academic Petition
Use this form:

  • to request a waiver of the Harpur College residency requirement
  • to request a Harpur writing course substitution (seniors only) *note: At least one C/J must be taken at Binghamton University
  • to request an extension of incomplete beyond the 18-month deadline
  • to request a change in Bulletin year

Transfer Credit Petition- MAJOR OR MINOR ONLY
Use this form for Requests Involving Major or Minor to petition for the acceptance of credits from future coursework to be taken at other universities or colleges.
Transfer Credit Petition- Gen Ed OR Harpur ONLY
Use this form for Requests Involving General Education, Harpur College Requirements and Electives to petition for the acceptance of credits from future coursework to be taken at other universities or colleges.

Fulfill a General Education Requirement with a Credited (Already Transferred) Course
Use this form to request courses already transferred to be used for General Education Requirement fulfillment.

DARS Inquiries / Requests (NOW ONLINE!)
If you have any of the following questions related to your DARS report, use this help desk application to begin a DARS inquiry:

  • I repeated a course to fulfill a Harpur College major requirement, but the course is not counting toward my Harpur College major. I have earned the grade required for my major in this course.
  • A transferred course is not meeting a general education or Harpur requirement that I expected it to fulfill.
  • A transferred course is not meeting a Harpur College major requirement that I expected it to fulfill.
  • I am a Harpur College student, and have a DARS question not addressed here.
  • I am a Harpur College student, and have another question not addressed here.

Due to Volume: Transfer Credit and General Education Transfer Petitions require 1 week for processing. If you are not available on campus one week from the date you submit the petition, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope

Additional Forms & Request Materials

Applications to Transfer to Another School
Submit these forms with stamped addressed envelopes to Harpur Academic Advising (AB-G18).  Applications should be filled out completely and signed.  These take at least five days to process.

Letter of Good Standing Release Form

Under the provisions of FERPA, Harpur College Academic Advising cannot discuss your student records with other persons or entities without your expressed consent. Some colleges/universities require letters of good standing from your home institution. In order to provide these letters, you must complete this form to permit us to release your records to the college/university.

Student Release Form
Under the provisions of FERPA, Harpur College Academic Advising cannot discuss your student records with other persons or entities without your expressed consent. This form allows you to give consent to specified persons, for a specified amount of time. Use this form only when requested or necessary.

AP Laboratory Science Requirement Form
The Binghamton University General Education Laboratory (L) requirement may be satisfied by an Advanced Placement (AP) score of 3 or better in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science, a passing grade in the course, and approval of documentation of the laboratory activities by a Binghamton University faculty member from the respective department.  This policy has been made retroactive so that it applies to all students who are subject to the current General Education requirements.  Students interested in having their AP score fulfill their General Education L requirement should complete Part 1 of the form, attach a copy of their high school transcript or report card, and then contact the faculty member for the relevant department (listed below) for more information on the type of documentation required for laboratory activities. University Withdrawal Form (Registrar)
Use this form to withdraw ALL classes from a current semester. Obtain the signature of a Harpur College Advisor, and other signatures that apply. Turn the form into Student Accounts no later than the last day of classes.

If you are faxing a release, or any form - do not include your Social Security Number. Do not include SSN's on documents transmitted electronically.
